Privacy Policy

Last updated September 27, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Silpi ("Silpi," "we," "us," or "our") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to silpi.site and any hosted sites created through it. It should be read alongside our Terms of Service and Cookie Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Documents and content you upload

The resume, CV, or research paper PDF you upload, plus any figures or images you add. This may contain personal information such as your name, contact details, work history, education, and — for a portfolio — a profile photo, career goals, and links to your social profiles.

Account information

Sign-in and account data (such as your email address) is collected and managed by our authentication provider, Clerk. Silpi does not directly handle your password.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe. Silpi does not receive or store your full card number — we retain a record of the transaction (amount, purchase type, and a Stripe reference ID) to confirm your purchase and provide support.

Usage and technical data

We collect basic technical data (such as IP address) to prevent abuse — for example, to limit how many uploads or AI-processing requests can come from one source per hour — and standard server/analytics logs (via Vercel Analytics) to understand traffic and diagnose issues.

Cookies

See our Cookie Policy for details on the cookies Silpi and its providers (including Clerk) use.

2. How We Use Information

  • To extract text from your document and generate website content;
  • To render, let you edit, and package your website (for download or hosting);
  • To process payments and maintain purchase records;
  • To operate hosted sites and, if requested, connect a custom domain;
  • To prevent abuse of the upload and AI-processing endpoints;
  • To provide customer support and respond to requests.

3. AI Processing

The text extracted from your uploaded document is sent to OpenAI's API to generate summaries, adapted content, and extracted profile/paper details. This is a necessary part of how Silpi works — we cannot generate your site without it. OpenAI processes this content under its own terms and does not use API data to train its models by default. We do not control OpenAI's infrastructure and are not responsible for its independent handling of data beyond what it discloses in its own policies.

4. Who We Share Information With

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that make Silpi work, each of which processes data as our service provider (a "subprocessor"):

  • Clerk — authentication and account management;
  • Stripe — payment processing;
  • Supabase — database and file storage;
  • OpenAI — AI content processing (as described above);
  • Upstash — rate limiting and abuse prevention;
  • Vercel — hosting, analytics, and custom-domain provisioning.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Silpi, our users, or the public.

5. Hosted Sites Are Public

If you choose the hosted option, the website generated from your document — including any personal information it contains — is published at a public URL that anyone can visit, and may appear in Silpi's sitemap and be indexed by search engines. Do not choose hosting, or remove sensitive details before publishing, if you do not want that content publicly visible. You can deactivate or permanently delete a hosted site at any time from your dashboard.

6. Data Retention

If you upload a document but do not complete a purchase, the extracted content and any associated files are automatically deleted, generally within 24 hours, by a scheduled cleanup process.

If you complete a purchase, we retain your purchase record and, for hosted sites, the site's content, for as long as your account is active or until you delete the hosted site yourself. To request deletion of your account or other retained data, email support@silpi.site — this is currently handled manually rather than through a self-serve tool.

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures (including encrypted connections and access controls on our database and storage) to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

Silpi is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact support@silpi.site and we will delete it.

9. Your Choices and Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing support@silpi.site. We will honor legitimate requests to the extent required by applicable law. You can also independently deactivate or delete any hosted site directly from your dashboard at any time.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
